Crowders Mtn Metric Century Report
Thanks to Jack Moore, of the GCC, Gaston Bicycle, and the Friends of Crowders Mtn, for organizing this annual ride which drew 133 participants on a beautiful April Sunday.)

Ride of Silence:  The GCC will sponsor Gaston County's third participation in this important event on May 21 at 7:00 p.m.
The start/finish area is the Gaston County Courthouse, Marietta St, Gastonia, NC..
Riders will ride an 8 mile route in single file, and in silence, in memory of cyclists killed in collisions with motor vehicles.
There is no fee for this ride, and we plan to have a police escort.  The speed will not exceed 12 mph, even going downhill.

Jersey / Clothing Update:  We still anticipate receiving the club clothing order sometime in May.  In addition to jerseys, other items were offered.  We were required to get requests for at least 10 of each item, and based on the orders received, we will be getting men's jerseys both short-sleeve and sleeveless, women's jerseys both short-sleeve and sleeveless, men's shorts, men's bib shorts, gloves, arm warmers, men's long-sleeve jerseys.  The items that didn't meet the required minimum are skinsuits and vests.

Club MeetingsMay Meeting Canceled! 
Due to the Cinco de Mayo holiday, our host restaurant, Tequila Mexican, has notified us that that will not have room for us.

Dinner meetings will not be held in June, July, or August.  They will resume on Monday, September 1, 2008.

Tuesdays (32 miles): Restoration Church of God, 1800 Spencer Mtn Rd, Ranlo, NC
Wednesdays (35 miles): Forestview High School, 5545 Union Rd, Gastonia NC
Thursdays (32 miles): Restoration Church of God, 1800 Spencer Mtn Rd, Ranlo, NC

Coasters Ride Series – 2008
Tuesday and Thursdays: 6:00 p.m. Forestview High School, 5545 Union Rd, Gastonia NC 20-25 miles
(start time will move to 6:30 p.m. in May)
Sundays: 7:00 a.m., 25 miles, New Hope Baptist Church, New Hope Rd., Gastonia, NC.

Pedal Pushers Ride Series – 2008
Tuesdays and Thursdays (15-20 miles) 6:00 p.m., North Gaston High, 1133 Ratchford Dr., Dallas, NC.
Regroups at intersections, as appropriate.

Note that all dates fall on Wednesdays.
You can register in advance at the link above, or register onsite the night of the event.   Plan to arrive by 5:30 p.m. if registering onsite.
Jan 19 - May 17:  Foothills Cyclists Training Series  BikeWays Shop,  Spartanburg, SC, Hwy 9.  Three fully marked routes, 66 miles, 42 miles and 28 miles.  Complete with preride goodies, sags, and a great meal at Manny's at the conclusion of each ride.  9 a.m.
Dates:  January 19th, February 9 , March 15th , April 5th and May 17th .
Bikeways will open its doors at 8am on January 19th with Hot Coffee and Hot Chocolate and Goodies. The 66 mile and the 42 mile will have fully stocked SAG stops. Bikeways will be having a 10% sale on Clothing and Accessories. As always there will be some great Raffle prizes.
After the ride Manny's Restaurant will be serving Chicken over Rice with Salad and cold drinks and it's another one of Manny's Great Meals.
The ride cost is $15.00 for non-members and $13.00 for members.

Each registered rider will pick up a random playing card at each of the four rest stops with the final card being received at the finish.
1st place wins $400, 2nd place wins $200 and 3rd place wins $100.
All the proceeds from the event will go to the Matthews Help Center and the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center.
