Dog Days of Dallas 2006 Report
The Dog Days ride was held on July 9. 124 riders participated (48 GCC members
and 76 non-GCC
members). The riders were about evenly split between the 47 & 64 mile courses, with
only a few riding the 25 mile course.
Club member Sam Jenkins organized the ride, & continued the excellent organization set by his predecessors of years past. Support included a police escort out of Dallas, three water stops, marked courses of 64, 47, and 25 miles, cue sheet, port-a-johns at the start, rolling SAG vehicles, and pizza & soda at the end. Ride day volunteers included Sam & Jacqueline Jenkins, Kay Grice, Frank Mull, Jane McCall, Tim Spivey, Teresa and Mylie Siegfried. Special thanks for marking the courses to Charlene Angel, Steve Overstreet, & Michele Jarbeau.
