Route:  The Gaston County Cyclists organized the Operation Playground Bike Ride from Martha Rivers Park, Gastonia, NC on Sunday, April 18, 1999.  The route was 60.0 miles.
Organizer:  Club member Michele Jarbeau organized the ride as a fund-raiser for the soon to be built playground at Martha Rivers Park.  The ride fee of $15 included a t-shirt, a post-ride meal at Bellacino's, and the usual ride perks of SAG and marked course.
Weather:  The temperature was 65 degF, with a 10-15 mph wind.
